Summer Baycation Tourism Video – Sponsorship Opportunity

BFresh.Media is looking for a sponsor for our "Summer Baycation" tourism and lifestyle video of Collingwood and The Blue Mountains. We have big plans to create a new viral campaign and you could be the headliner as Presented By.

This campaign is based on a proven concept that generated over 10,000 views in 10 days with our Winter Baycation video. It all started when our Newfoundland (in ten days) video had viral success with now over 585,000 views on Facebook. Because the video was just for the fun of it, we wanted to see if it were possible to commercialize this concept and repeat that success. Winter Baycation was that test and it was very successful. In 10 days it reached over 20,000 people and generated over 1,000 engagements from likes, comments and shares, all organically. Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

So why does this concept work? Well it is designed to be fun, fast, and entertaining plus include lots of people and businesses who will want to share it. That’s the key. It is very different from most typical tourism videos because it focuses heavily on the experience in a very up close and personal way.

My only regret with the winter video is that we released it very late in the season on February 13th and within 10 days, our winter and thus the video views, had ended. So I don’t want that to happen again with the summer version. Which means the clock is ticking and we will aim to shoot mid June to get the video out by early July when summer holidays are in full swing.

Who Are We Looking For?

We want to connect with a business who understands the value of sponsorship and brand advertising and we will work with you to ensure you have lots of coverage and final approval before the video goes out. So obviously a Tourism Association, a Real Estate office, or a Resort might be a good fit but if you think your business would benefit, we want to talk... and soon.

Sponsorship Fee - $3,500 (+HST)

The sponsorship approach is a way to have a video produced for a fraction of the price. Consider how much time and energy goes into a 4 day shoot and then a massive edit that consists of hundreds of clips. Not to mention the pre-production scheduling and planning that it takes to actually put this together. To purchase full copyright ownership of this video is $10,000. Which is a possibility too but potentially out of range for many local businesses. So the sponsorship is a way to cover our costs while you get the benefit of attaching your brand to a (proven) successful viral video.

Winter Baycation – A New Approach to Tourism Videos

We had a proven concept. Our “Newfoundland in 10 days” video has been viewed over half a million times and continues to perform (whenever people start planning their trips to Newfoundland) with extremely positive engagement.

That video has increased our Facebook page likes by about 330% but that is a very broad audience and where do you think most of those new likes are coming from? Newfoundland of course!

My primary goal with Winter Baycation was to recreate that same success closer to home, engaging an audience in the Collingwood, The Blue Mountains, and broader South Georgian Bay area.

The secondary goal was to try and monetize that model. The first video was just for fun, and once it’s online, noone has to buy it. Anyone can freely share it and use it to engage their own audiences which is what the official tourism board of Newfoundland and Labrador did among others. And that’s completely fine because all those views are counted at the source - the BFresh.Media facebook page.

So to monetize this we decided on a sponsorship model. The main reason was so that BFresh.Media would retain copyright ownership and therefore have full creative control. We wanted to execute our own vision and not let client influence pull us too far away from that. The second reason was to keep the cost more affordable for those involved.

The Georgian Triangle Tourism Association (AKA Visit South Georgian Bay) saw this as a great opportunity to promote their brand, our region, and provide value to their amazing Members by taking on the Title Sponsorship. We worked out a deal for exclusivity to feature members only which worked out fine because all of the destinations and experiences that were on our checklist were already members.

The result was another fun, fast paced adventure featuring real people and real experiences. For your viewing pleasure here is the video:

Winter Baycation Presented by Visit South Georgian Bay

The video launched on February 13th and was viewed over 10,000 times in 10 days. As of March 15th it has been shared 193 times and received 983 post engagements, all of which have been extremely positive.

Each participating member also received a short teaser clip to post on their own Instagram or Facebook accounts.

The video saw huge success but the only issue was that winter was effectively ending, something that was obviously out of our control. As of February 26th there was no longer any snow on the ground and we had been seeing temperatures as high as +15 for a few days.

While there was little we could do to get this video out earlier, it’s now ready for next season and that’s the good news. As we see all the time with our Newfoundland Video, when it’s relevant, it has just as much potential to take off as the first time. It might need just a push to get the ball rolling but all we need to do is share this video again next season and it’s sure to perform even better at the beginning of the season.

Travel Video Open Casting Call

We are creating a travel video that will document the adventures of 2 people and you could be those people. All expenses paid! Seriously, hotel, transportation, meals, along with skiing, beer & wine tours and more is what we have planned.  

We are very excited to announce that The Georgian Triangle Tourism Association, has sponsored Bfresh.Media's Collingwood and The Blue Mountains travel video that will be filming in January 2018. We are partnering with Association Members like Cranberry Resort to create one amazing travel experience. That means that the search is on for our tourists that want to be featured in this all inclusive getaway film project.

This is a documentary style video which does not require acting. So if you love to travel and love the outdoors, YOU could be a great fit. What we really want is to show off real people, enjoying real experiences. Here are more details and how you can enter.

Who we’re looking for:

  1. A duo (2 friends/couple/siblings) - must be 19 years of age or older.
  2. You must be free to film January 14th - 17th
  3. You live outside of the Georgian Triangle but no more than 200km from Collingwood Ontario. (so Barrie, Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener or anywhere in-between) For anyone really eager, note that Pearson International Airport is in that radius... just sayin'.
  4. You’re fun, outdoorsy, and adventurous.
  5. You love winter activities like skiing or snowboarding, snowshoeing, and skating.

Here’s how to audition:

  1. Shoot a video of yourselves 1 min long or less. We want to see personality! Tell us why you should be featured in our travel video. Perhaps you’ve not been to Collingwood for years or you’ve never been here before. We’d love to hear your story.
  2. Upload said video to Facebook,  Instagram, or both. In your post, make sure to tag @SGeorgianBay, @bfresh.media, and use the hashtag #SouthGeorgianBaycation so that we can find it.
  3. Feel good knowing you could be a part of something awesome. 🙂

The Deadline for submissions is Wednesday January 3rd, 2018 at 12:00am so get your audition up before then, otherwise you will miss out on this incredible opportunity. The chosen pair will be contacted by Friday January 5th. Transportation to and from Collingwood will be provided, picking up on January 14th and returning you home on the 17th.

Collingwood and Area Tourism Video Coming Soon

Last year I inadvertently created a wildly successful tourism video for the province of Newfoundland. My viral vacation video, which currently has over 525,000 views on Facebook, was more successful than most official Newfoundland and Labrador videos. Here is that video again, if you have not seen it:

Since that video went out, I’ve wanted to create something similar for Collingwood and the Blue mountains. I want to show off what an amazing place this is, in the same fun, sharable way. To me, the success of that original video was not a fluke and can be recreated. Now instead of trying to pitch this to a government entity or individual client, I’d rather just go out and create it myself. That’s because I prefer to maintain full creative control to ensure maximum success. Not to mention, the original video gave great exposure to all the other businesses that we featured and that was a huge part of what made it successful - featuring others.

So that’s it, it’s settled. We are making a Winter Tourism Video for Collingwood and The Blue Mountains, set to shoot in January 2018.

We will be filming in early to mid January over a period of 3-4 days. Our on camera “tourists” will be from out of town and chosen through a social media contest in which entries can win an all expenses paid vacation to Collingwood and The Blue Mountains. This is to generate excitement before the video has even begun.

We Need Your Help To Make This Video

What I am looking for is sponsorship because I understand that a price tag of $8-10 thousand may not be realistic for most local businesses or even the tourism offices but that is how much this would cost to make. Instead, what I’m suggesting is that we pool our resources and funds, that’s how this video is going to get made. If we want to feature the best that this area has to offer, we are going to to need support from those who want to be in it, so here is what we are looking for:

    1. A Title sponsor - A title sponsor is just that, your brand right in the title of the video as “Presented by...” Plus we will feature your business and brand with great coverage in the video. This is to help cover some of our expenses - Note that if we receive multiple offers, we will choose to work with the best fit for the project and look for a sponsor that can help connect us to other businesses on our wishlist.

    1. Transportation Sponsor - We will be driving to pick up our tourists within a 200km radius of Collingwood and then taking them all around town to show them the sights. A transportation sponsor would receive a “transportation provided by” credit with logo plus we would be sure to feature plenty of shots of your vehicle branding. This could be any business from auto dealership to Real Estate office that has a wrapped vehicle and want’s to really show it off.

    1. A Hotel/accommodation sponsor - We will be bringing “tourists” from out of town as part of the adventure and they will need a place to stay for 3 or 4 nights. This is one of the most important sponsorship categories and we will be eternally grateful (and it will show in the video!).

    1. Recreational Sponsors - There are so many fun things to do, places to go and experience and you could be one of them. Yes this is a Winter video, but we are looking for all kinds of activities both indoor and outdoor. To be featured as a recreational sponsor we just need 3 free passes. We just need access to film and we will show off your business. We are looking for anything to do, indoor, outdoor, from Skiing, to rock climbing, to a spa, live music and anything inbetween.

    1. Restaurant Sponsors - This area has so many great places to eat. There is no shortage of amazing dining experiences and we want to show them off. All we need from a restaurant or bar is some food and or drinks to be featured. Whatever you are able to provide, we will be looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner and maybe a few stops for just some appetizers, or coffee and snacks. Again, any establishment willing to pitch in will get great coverage plus a tag in the Facebook post.

Just think how awesome this will be. Your business featured in a tourism video and you don't have to pay thousands of dollars for it! We know that a big part of what makes our area worth visiting is the people who make it great and that is what most tourism videos are missing, YOU!
